This is a sad day for the world. Apparently Wikileaks is stopping it's activities to focus on fundraising. Without it releasing controversial material their popularity would wain and it might be the end. The financial isolation caused by the U.S. government pressuring money transfer companies. They weren't lacking in donations but they never got them. Apparently they are under threats by Bank of America because earlier this year Wikileaks stated they had a large amount of incriminating correspondence from an American bank - maybe Bank of America knows it was them. We'll see in this coming year or two whether the government succeeds in killing him as revenge for their slight embarrassment. I want them to release the bank data. I want to see them destroyed. Tear them to bits.
I certainly hope this is a Napster moment, or better yet a Morpheus/Kazaa moment. This centralized form of whistle-blowing website might become a cloud operation. It could become like a fungus which can't be stamped out like the pirate torrents. There is an indestructible Piratebay and a thousand websites ready to take its place as most popular. I don't see why the wikileaks concept be transformed into a cloud of data and a main page which is editorialized and pruned by all the users like a true wiki website- except the data isn't intellectual property just classified secrets and incriminating evidence about the powerful.
It's a sad day.
