Big Name Fan means you're "hot shit" and have your own fans within the fandom. Your fics or art bring all the fangirls to the yard. Whether or not they are damn right or better than yours is still up for contention.

Hahah I too had to look this up awhile back and when I couldn't find it I was forced to actually ask a fandom friend exactly what the hellfuck it was and they laughed at me for not knowing.

Now I find myself using it in conversation and wish that perhaps I hadn't learned it.

i let annwyd talk about BNFs for a while before it actually started to bother me that i didn't know what it was. i kept thinking about the Big Friendly Giant from childhood when she said it and now i wish i would have remained ignorant so i could think BFG forever

this is so off topic but OOOMG Watership Down icon D: that movie is so messed up..aasldkfjas i mean i loved watching it but hooomg. i had to watch it during the day because trying to watch it at night made me scared. :'[
