We had a great time in Asheville, NC, touring Biltmore, the astounding house and home of George Vanderbuilt, seeing the town and indulging in the cuisine. We took time to tour the Biltmore winery, which has been producing award-winning wines for several years. Of the reds I tasted -- cabernet, malbec, syrah, zinfandel -- hands down my favorite was the pinot noir. It had enough acid to stand up to most foods and palettes with a pleasant, understated layer of cherry.
Three bottles of it came home with me. ;-)
