So ABC did some special on lax security on the nuclear reactors at college campuses.
In particular they came to my college, sending a couple interns to see the reactor here. The interns reported that "nobody stopped us as we approached the building, and the doors weren't even locked at 12:30 at night."
ABC neglected to mention the four locked doors they were escorted through to get to the reactor, the background checks the interns received, that the interns were not allowed to bring backpacks into the secure area, and that at no point was either intern unescorted.
Oh, and they also neglegted to mention that people are in an out of that building /at all hours/ and that the building itself, if not some of the areas, is a public access building. Anybody is allowed to go into it at any time. The building is used as a display for senior engineering projects. The list of reasons why the building wasn't locked goes on for a while.
Dammit, why the hell do they need to attack us because we're only paranoid enough to put 4 metal, locked doors and a half dozen security people in the way of the reactor? The building door is glass to begin with. Locking it would stop a terrorist about as much as a poodle can be expected to stop a burglar when you've got three rotweilers and a pit bull.
All in the name of [unprintable] ratings I suppose.
