My husband and I have been going through some life decisions and we've decided that we are definitively going to retire in Alaska. We've also decided that as soon as Ben graduates (3 years) we're selling the house and moving to Alaska. Their are so many jobs in Anchorage it isn't even funny and we're just done with working here. Yes, I'm from Alaska but I left in 1986 in my 9th grade year because my mom moved to Nashville, TN to help my grandpa then we moved to St. Helens, OR where I went to 10th-12th, but I went home to Alaska every summer except one and for holidays here and there and I had it as my home of record when I went into the Air Force. It's always been 'home'. We'd narrowed it down to either Northern Idaho or Alaska but some other things have pushed it over till we decided to just go forward with Alaska. My aging father, my brothers, my niece, and my mom is apparently set on living where we do so if we moved to Idaho it'd all be on me again. I told my husband that really settled it. If we move to Alaska my brothers have to share in the responsibility.

I wish we could go now but Ben has been consulted and he says he would prefer to stay here till high school is over. He's made friends etc. And that gives us time to get a few things done with the house, get more equity and just be in a better spot to sell it so if we can stay for 3 more years we're going to.
