Todays seminar started with thanks.

"Thank you for inviting me here, it is such an honour. This institute is an island of sanity in this world. Where else would people converge on sunday to talk about two-dimensional electron gas for two hours, and then again, on monday to talk about two-dimensional electron gas for who knows how long. An island of sanity."

During the last few talks I remained depressingly ignorant about anything that was said. I heard the words, I saw the pictures and the equations. And I couldn't understand one little thing. This state of things was alright at the beginning of my masters. At this stage, it is absolutely depressing.
