OMG, SUPERNATURAL COMES BACK TONIGHT! I've read that Cas isn't going to be in it, but I don't really care because OMG, BOBBY! ♥
Except, I have to go to a performance tonight at 7:00. IF I'M NOT BACK BY 9:00, I WILL CHOKE A BITCH.

I don't know why I like my Sultans, Eunuchs and Harems class so much. My Professor isn't a very good teacher and the books we've had to read for the class so far have been hella boring. But I think there's just something about the Ottoman Empire that really fascinates me. I'm pretty sure that it has something to do with the set-up; how the slaves can rise in power, how women seemed to be opressed but actually had more rights than European women of the time, how it was relatively religiously tolerant.
But maybe I also like it for the fun moments. For example: yesterday when I was doing my reading for the class, I read "Homeric-style epic" as "Homoerotic-style epic" and was like, "OMG, MUST FIND THAT BOOK!" But it didn't make sense in the context of what the author was talking about, and when I went back and realized what it actually said I was vaguely disappointed.
And then there's also the weird covers on all the books for this class. A part of the cover of The Ottoman Empire 1700-1922 by Donald Quataert for example:
I want to caption it with something ridiculous like:
Moustached man: Quit making eyes at him! You're supposed to be my boyfriend! Plus, he's too old for you anyway!
In all honesty though, I really would love to do my research paper on homosexuality in the Ottoman Empire. Although, based on what I've found so far, there's no way I'd be able to fill up 12 pages on that topic. In fact, basically all I know is that the black eunuchs used to spy on the women's baths and the boys' quarters in the palace to make sure there was no illicit homosexual activity occurring. Creepers.
