The Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge is a 140-acre floodplain wetland located just 2 miles south of downtown Portland, along the banks of the Willamette River. More than 400 species of birds nest, hunt or migrate throughout the refuge, giving visitors close-up views of such favorites as eagles, ospreys and the official city bird of Portland, the 6 foot wing-spanned great blue heron.
