I took a one day data-entry position at a place called PICA Group. Most of the day has been spent waiting for them to get their stuff ready for me. I'm going to be inputting their goals and such for 2006 into some kind of web-based management system. Since they already have it on paper, it looks like it would be a lot easier for them to go ahead and do it the old-fashioned way and just make copies, even if they don't get the neat little graphics and percentages-done graphs, etc.
However, I am getting paid for sitting on my butt and doing nothing, and this Dell two-monitor setup (one of them is a twenty something inch flippable monitor that makes what little work I have done a lot easier. Go dual monitor setups!
For those of you that haven't heard, I start work on a long-term non-permanent position on Monday. American Standard outsourced their Accounts Payable people to India and Florida, and I get to clean up the mess from the people that left here in Nashville. Neat, eh? Since the position(s) have been outsourced, there's no hope for me hanging on to that position permanently. However, a lot of people have been leaving the company outside of the Accounts Payable department at American Standard, and I'm hoping that I might replace one of them. I plan on making myself so invaluable that they won't be able to get rid of me.
