Writer's Block: Do you check your stars?

Sep 27, 2009 01:00

I love that question. I'm an astrologer. While I do like to do and study astrology, I hate, hate, hate horoscopes with a passion because they're nonsense! It's someone making up crap! I never check mine because they would be just as legit as if they would say "Everyone who has the favorite colour blue, here's your day..." I really annoys me and the fact that people are actually taking it seriously because it's a crock of utter crap. Anyone is more than just their sun sign (The sign people ask for and horoscopes are based on) so newspaper horoscopes suck because people are so different from each other. I mean, look at Darwin and Lincoln. They were born the same day but became different guys. The only way horoscopes can be done right is only with the aid of natal chart astrology and transcendent/transit charts, where true horoscopes come from because it's someone comparing your birth chart with the current astrological forcast and delving information from that. At least it'll be right because it's geared specifically for the person in question and not a whole bunch of people and countries (because even nations have zodiacs to them. Par example: US is a Cancer (July 4,1776). We sure do act like one tho, look at our military and centralist views of the world - hiding in our shells and a bit delusional.)

Ppl judging folks on their sun sign - unless you're reeeeeeeeally good at human nature and stuff, I think it's stupid. Like I said, a person is more than just their sun sign. I'm a Cancer but I'm not that erratic (well...not when I'm not PMS'ing. That's a different animal altogether). Cancer is supposed to be the mother zodiac but I don't like kids (love animals tho!) and while I like food, so does my boyfriend and he's a Scorpio. Unless a person has a sterillium (cluster of planets under one zodiac) in their chart, I would say don't bother to judge a person on their sign because there's more to it than that.

I dunno, learning actual astrology is really hard work so I guess people would be happier to have blanket assumptions to create self-fulfilling prophecies (or let downs) about. I just wish folks wouldn't focus so much on crap they don't understand and spout off like they do >.
