There was a girl from Texas, and she came to the City of Angels to learn. History at first, but then she met a man who taught her and taught her well. Changed her path and filled her mind with science. Physics. Chaos and strings, bosons and neutrons. She wanted to learn what made the universe tick, what made it move, what made it breathe. This girl loves to learn almost as much as she loved to live, as much as she loved her mother and her father.
Her path changed again, as these things often do. Again by this man, this teacher. Jealous of her mind, of her ability to make sense out of the senseless, calm out of chaos and chaos out of nothing. Jealous of her, he sent her to live among the monsters. Sent her to another world to be a slave, to be nothing. Sent her without a thought to her safety, to her. He'd done this to others before her, perhaps he'd even do it after. He didn't care.
Weeks among the monsters turned into months, months turned into years. She fled to safety of the caves, but it didn't help. She fractured. She broke. She shattered. Her mind still filled with science, physics, chaos, strings, bosons, neutrons, everything about the universe. Every universe. Every dimension. Desperately trying to return to her own world and failing in so many ways.
Failing, but not failing. Bringing people to her, sending monsters to the City of Angels. Attracting attention like a magnet. Changing her path again, this time by another man. A handsome man to save her from the monsters. To take her home, to her family and science and physics and tacos.
But he couldn't make her less broken, less fractured. No matter how much she wanted him to. No matter how much he tried. Handsome man could save her from the monsters, but he can't save her from herself.
