I have been entertaining out-of-towners lately, even took a week off to do it. Mid-last year I also began thinking of my work as more of a business (than me being a hired gun), and accelerated my workload and hirings. This is what most people do by default, but I prefer to spend my time creating rather than administering (the artist in me). This year things have really taken off, it seems many businesses are getting burned by tech companies, as "talking the talk" has become a sub-science of marketing, and "walking the walk" is rare because there are simply few skilled people available in software anymore (they fled the arena after the first recession). These unfortunate souls - burned by the promises of others - find me, as my businesses portfolio speaks for itself. It is like the pioneering days of the internet again, but the bullshitters are way more sophisticated - everyone is advertising themselves as experts, because they are the only available experts among amateurs. Unfortunately, failure has become a big and acceptable part of the business again.
Tax time this year was a shocker, but I am a patriot - what can I say.
I am working towards three things this year: A new fridge, dishwasher, and new windows for my house. This is besides my hopes for stellar health of myself and loved ones, good connections among friends, and a stimulating vocation.
The media for Today: An airboat in the Everglades, and a gator. What is more Florida than that?
