(no subject)
stupid drama.
i'm desperately seeking two things right now. a place to move to in a month, and a second job. i may have found an apartment. i went off today to look at it, but apparently it won't be ready to be shown until next weekend. oh well, that's ok. it's out in beaverdale. it's a decent neighborhood. not amazing, definitely not johnston, but still decent. however, it's $540/month and i still have to pay electricity. So basically, rent, electricity, cable and internet are going to kill me financially.
hence, i'm looking for a second job. i applied for a pharm tech job at iowa lutheran and got denied without even an interview. personally, i think that's ridiculous. they're looking for someone to work as needed, which i can do. they want someone with strong math skills. well, i'm a fucking math minor. i've taken more math than 96% of drake students and pretty much slept in or skipped class and still passed with flying colors. they also said preference would be given to someone with 2+ years of tech experience. well, i've been at cic for more than 2 years now. stupid iowa lutheran.
i applied today for a tech job at mercy. i'm hoping i can get this one now. i just want a job that i can work part-full time on nights, weekends and holidays.
i'm also caving in and applying to walgreens. :'( that's how desperate i am. after talking with a couple people, the one i'd rather work at is the beaver and douglas store. apparently good staff, decent area, and if i get this apartment in beaverdale i'll be close by. plus apparently walgreens is trying to get into compounding a bit...obviously not to the extend that cic is, but a bit. well, as i've been at cic for more than 2 years, i have EXTENSIVE experience with compounding. you'd think maybe i could help them out a bit...
otherwise, this has been a LONG week. i only had 1 class this whole week, which was funny. human geography was cancelled all week. i went to queer lit on tuesday. my group moderated the discussion in class that day. that was fun! that was project 1 for the week. project 2: court case review for lab safety, due wednesday. didn't go to class, but i emailed the paper to the prof. instead of class, i had project 3. christie invited me in to guest talk to the compounding lab about plo's. that was fun. i just talked about the ingredients in them and various little things that would be good to know. got a compliment from one of the students, which was nice. then project 4. minimum 5 page paper due for queer lit on thursday. finished it wednesday night around 12:45 and emailed it to perrine. final paper... 30 pages. yea, i was a bit of an overachiever. project 5: watch a movie for queer lit and post about it on blackboard. took care of that and went to bed at about 3:15 thursday morning. got up at 6 thursday to go to DUCURS to present my poster. that was project 6, and the reason i didn't go to class on thursday. fun week, huh?
so other news. apparently my mom is planning on moving out of the house. alone. wtf? oh well, i kinda saw it coming...about 10 years ago. she asked me to see if i could find a few friends who could go back home with me sometime this summer to help her move. wonderful. we'll see how this goes...
