It's the Christmas reading edition and I cannot be arsed to do the template thingy.

Christie, Agatha: "Weihnachten mit Agatha Christie"
A collection of Christmas Stories by Agatha Christie, would you believe it. Contains short stories, snippets from novels and from her autobiography (which I now cannot wait to read, and oh, look, there it is, in my shelf! There's something to be said for hoarding), as well as recipes, poems and carols. So this makes for a great, showy, slightly literary gift, but the format is a bit impractical, and being me, I'd rather read the complete novels instead of just the snippets.

Various: "A Homespun Regency Christmas"
Instead of giving myself an advent calendar (which I have no problem doing, usually), I decided on a book this time. Four novellas, so there's one for each week preceding Christmas, or, if you're me, one for each sunday. Three of them were great, but the one by Sandra Heath was sort of stupid. I think I read something by Heath once, "The Whispering Rocks" or something, and I didn't like that either, so there's an author I can avoid from now on. Anyway, these are all romances, obviously, set in the regency era (or so they claim), and basically fluffy, warm and all alike, so let's not bother further. I'm getting another collection next Christmas, though.

Dickens, Charles: "A Christmas Carol"
I think there's been enough said? But this edition (Bantam Classics) is really nice. It contains only the Christmas Carol, not a heap of other Christmas stories by Dickens, it's complete, the printing is clean, and it has a good size.

Andersen, Hans-Christian: "Die Schneekönigin"
I'm in the middle of re-reading it, but I'm obviously going to love it again. I once gave it away as a gift, and the receiver later said she thought the "narrative structures weren't ideal", I kid you not, wish I was. So, if you have a problem with unideal narrative structures in fairy tales, maybe keep away, but if you're normal, then by all means, give it a read.

That's my Christmas-themed reading done. I'm currently using the season as an excuse to re-read my favourite horse stories by Tina Caspari, "Bille&Zottel". I might just finish all ... 20? novels this year :D.

Oh, and I almost forgot! Dear few but loved readers, I hope you have a Very Merry Christmas, lashings and lashings of good food, terrific presents, and the patience to endure your family for a while!
