American/British English pronuntiation...
... days like today remind me of the fact that my English speech always says "foreigner".. Funniest thing of all is that common pronuntiation differences come from the fact that I'm used/learned the American one, and colleagues (native or not) put on funny faces.
Today's example was vitamin:
UK: /ˈvɪt.ə.mɪn/
US: /ˈvaɪ.t ̬ə.mɪn/
Only one of my colleagues recognized mine as a valid pronuntiation. The others (one British, two Italians, and a Swiss one) were 'no, no' :) I'll get back to them tomorrow heheh
Some other popular ones are 'router', 'either'.. Also, my schwas are well known lol.. It's become some natural for so long now, that I need to really pay attention to sound more British/neutral.. I'm wondering whether I should work towards that or just remain loyal to my origins LOL
