A poem should be consumed
As forbidden fruit,
Silly
As medals worn upon a suit,
Quiet
As little cat's feet,
Mute as a flute
Or the scamper of little mice's feet.
A poem should be as long
As watching a school room clock,
Departing, as a full moon
Across the star filled sky.
A poem should be motile
As all eternity.
A poem should endure
But not be necessarily true,
For all the tragedies of life
A homeless soul sitting in the street.
For affection
As a mother's love.
A poem should be meaningless
But enduring!
poetry,
poems
