I read The Northern Lights years ago, didn't bother to read the rest. Then last week weekend I read The Subtle Knife and today I finished reading The Amber Spyglass.
First, the high definition trailer for
The Golden Compass looks mind-bogglingly amazing.
Secondly, while I didn't much are for The Northern Lights, I think that The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass were much better. There's something odd about these being characterised as children's books, though. To me they're even more adult than Harry Potter. There's one part in The Amber Spyglass that was rather amazingly written and that's when Will and Lyra enter the world of the dead.
