Strange Scandinavian / China musical nexus ..

Hee. Further to my earlier post, this is another song for baleanoptera the only Norwegian on my friends list :D Clearly there's an odd musical nexus between Scandinavia and China :D

Lene Marlin is a Norwegian singer whom I first discovered when I heard her song "Unforgivable Sinner". In 2005 she went to Taiwan and China to promote a Taiwanese version of Lost in a Moment. This included one bonus track, 'Still Here', a cover of a Mandarin song by my very, very beloved Chinese singer, Faye Wong.

This is 'Still Here'

Here is the original Faye Wong song called '我愿意' (I'm willing). You'll see that Lene Marlin varied it quite a lot. Nonetheless it's still recognisable and there was a fanfare of a release for the song in Taiwan when Lene Marlin first released the song :)

Lene Marlin also had a song called 'I'm sitting down here'.

Hong Kong singer Sandy Lam did a Mandarin Chinese cover of that song called 我坐在这里 (I'm sitting here). Here is the live version.

This is Faye Wong singing 《乘客》which is the Mandarin version of the song 'Going Home' by Swedish singer Sophie Zelmani

Alas, I can't find the MTV of the Sophie Zelmani original.
