My thoughts on Girrrrrrl Power (fictional female characters on television I like and admire)

Yesterday, I was giving someone some Supernatural fic recs and I went to make sure I'd recommended the correct author. While I was there, I noticed that the person had written a lot of posts about Bones in her journal. I was really delighted until I realised that she was only watching the show because of David Boreanaz and absolutely hated the ( Read more... )

"I wonder if there are patterns. People who like Female Character X are more likely to like Female Character B, but will hate Female Character D. If someone psychoanalysed the female characters I like, would they conclude that i'm a Good Person or a Crap Person? *eyeballs Stephen*"

Great post, and the above thought is very interesting. My favorite female that you listed is Ms. Parker. She was really tough and kick-ass, but also conflicted between getting Jarod back and sometimes trying to do the right thing. It got better when Lyle showed up, because she hated him so much. I also thought her looks were striking, which I like in a female character. (Does that make me superficial?)

I go back and forth about Starbuck. She can be really annoying when she is angsty and self-destructive.

I also like it when the female characters know martial arts and kick butt. What about Sydney Brisow on Alias? She's one of my favorites for this trait.

I haven't been able to get into Prison Break, but I plan on checking out Bones, when I figure out what time it's on TV in the U.S. If I like it, I'll go back and do season 1!

She's great and as syliasyliasylia once mentioned to me, 'being superficial is underrated'. :D I think the reasons we like a tv character are very intuitive/emotive/subjective. It's like you say with Kara, her fans adore her, I find her borderline annoying. I adore Sharon, others hate her.

What about Sydney Brisow

I only watched the first two seasons and then moved overseas and didn't get to keep up..... but yes she's a kickass heroine I also like (assuming that she didn't change dramatically from the first or second season).

Bones is excellent and probably better than Prison Break in terms of dialogue and banter :D I did a post earlier on where to get all the eps. If you have any hassles let me know, I might be able to help :D
