Pancake angst / Mini pancake pic spam

iynx was talking today about blueberry pancakes. Much as I adore crepes, there's something about pancakes that I love. Part of it's the aesthetic - I just adore the sight of a stack of pancakes.

I've always wanted to try pancakes like that, a.k.a UK/US/AU-style, soaking in syrup/chocolate ^___^

What we call pancakes here is much, much thinner, and usually server stuffed (either rolled or folded in 4) with sweet filling or, in fact, any filling you can think of. I think they're more like French crêpes ^_^ and my favourite type has Eastern European white cheese mixed with sour cream and sugar and raisins inside ^_^ topped with whipped cream and chocolate ^_^

sorry if it seems like I'm stalking you lately :D ...but I love talking about sweet foods!

Yes there's something very mesmerising about pancake porn. I can't take my eyes off those pancake stacks - and drat, I still have no idea where to ge them in Beijing :D

lol eating and looking at a stack of pancakes is always a dilemma. on one hand you like the idea of looking at the stack but whether or not you can eat it is a different matter. although the good thing about the stacks is if you make it yourself, you can have a stack and whatever you don't finish can be eaten later :P

That's true. In restaurants it's wasted but at home it's ok. The problem is the pancakes I make at home never look as nice as the pancake stacks in shops. There was one pancake/ice cream shop in Sydney where my friend Cat and I always got drawn in by the amazing photograph of the pancake stack. Each time we ordered it, the pancakes were kind of yucky and stale but we kept thinking: "Maybe this time it will be different and live up to the photograph" :D

i think it's true for most of the food pictures. i heard once that all food photos are airbrushed of the food themselves are airbrushed... o.O

OMG!!!! Pancakes, stacked pancakes, crêpes, and waffles... LOVE THEM ALL!!! Especially with lots of chocolate syrup, or chocolate fudge, or apple&cinnamon... I was restraining myself not to cook stacked pankes with chocolate for tomorrow's breakfast... but this post has been definitive! Tomorrow is the day!

this made me crave pancakes. and I have the stuff to make them, but I have homework I need to do so I don't really have the time. Shame. I guess I will just crave them until I get a chance to make them.

I have Betty Crocker pancake mix at home but I need to buy some lemons and ice sugar to sprinkle on top. Also, as I've mentioned above, the pancakes I make never ever look as pretty as the ones in the restaurant :P

mine are never fully circular. It's a pitty, really. Sometimes I burn them too, or they aren't cooked all the way in the middle. I did learn once, in high school, to make pancakes from scratch. But I don't remember now, as I've fallen victim to the pancake powder mix.
