It's 2.44am. I finished watching episode 1 of season 2 of Prison Break. I am insane. Actually, insanity doesn't even come close to covering it given that I have to go to work tomorrowtoday. Fortunately it isn't an early start :P *rolls eyes at self*
I'll do a more pondery post later when I'm lucid, but for the time being, this is a pic spam. I didn't do the screen caps, they're from
here.
Introducing the characters .... William Fichtner is new and he stars as Agent Mahone.
In the beginning he's working on a puzzle in the newspaper. This is clearly designed to show us that he's smart and good at problem solving and puzzles and solving tattoos
He helpfully runs through the names of the escapees. First there's Michael Scofield, Deeply Hot and Very Motivated Structural Engineer
He robbed a bank to get into the same prison as his brother.

The tattoo :)
We go to the escapees on the run ... Michael Scofield, the only man in the world who can still look hot while wearing a daggy prison tracksuit
I should mention that there's a lot of running in this episode:
Bellick is angry and obsessed. Kind of like Inspector Javert - if he was an ugly redneck.
More running ... and our escapees are able to escape just in time.
Mahone holds a press conference. Interestingly, they show him looking kind of nervous before the press conference - so we're supposed to know that he has layers, that he's human. They clearly don't want to portray him as a stereotypical bad guy. The press conference means that the manhunt has well and truly begun and the faces of the escapees are splashed all over the television.
Meanwhile, we learn that Sara is alive. She almost died, but here is the scene where she wakes up ... after having a helpful flashback:
Sara is being interrogated about what she knows ...
Meanwhile, the escapees have found a car. Is Michael thinking about Sara? :) Probably not, but he looks cute and angsty here.
We find out that Mahone is a very, very smart cookie. He's figured out that Michael's been plotting this escape:
He's figured out that the tattoo holds all the clues
As Michael consults the tattoo, Mahone is figuring it all out at the same time. Oh it's going to be a season of cat and mouse! I hope they don't make it too annoying that Mahone always arrrives 2 seconds after Michael leaves. It will start to feel like the Pretender, which I like as a show, but I don't want Prison Break to be the Pretender, if that makes any sense.
Regrettably, Veronica who is with Steadman (who is very much alive as we all knew) - is still Too Stupid To Live.
Katie and Sara have a reunion... We discover that Sara's father hasn't visited her.
Katie wants to apologise, but Sara won't accept it, nor will she blame. She can understand why Katie 'told'.
Katie: You're not the first correctional worker that fell for a con. Trust me.
Sara: (with a catch in her voice) He never cared. Not one bit ...
Oh Sara ... If only you could hear the conversation that Michael's having with Sucre.
Sucre: What are you thinking about?
Michael: Mistakes
Sucre: You had to do it
Michael: Not like I did. I ruined her life
Sucre: Well there's nothing you can do about it now
Michael: That's not true!
I love the way Michael immediately retorts: "That's not true!"
Sucre: You fell for her, huh?
Sucre puts his hand on Michael's shoulder. It's so sweet. Sucre understands in a way no one else really could, but Michael pulls away. He's not into the whole being vulnerable thing :'(
'Never cared' clip is here:
Bellick is led on a wild goose chase by Michael who tricks him into thinking that they're headed towards a storage place:
I love the scene when Mahone, unlike Bellick, figures out what's going on. He rushes to the graveyard. The escapees hide and Michael gets a clear look at the man who is to become his Nemesis.
You can see Michael staring very intently at him and it's just very dramatic, albeit a little foolish. I love the fact that he is sizing up Mahone, getting his measure.
The fact that Mahone pauses to take some form of medication also would not be missed by Michael.
Meanwhile, T Bag has no idea about medicine and tries to get a poor, terrified vet to sew his hand back on:
Veronica proves that she really was too stupid to live and gets herself killed. I'm just surprised that she lasted this long although gosh it was kind of gruesome to see the 'clean up'. *turns green* Clearly the conspiracy is still very much dark and mysterious ...
Sara while taking something out of her bag realises that Michael has slipped a paper crane into her handbag ...
As she stares at it though, she suddenly realises that there's something written on it and so starts to unfold it.
It's hard to know what's in Sara's head at this point ...
'Crane' clip here:
The ending is cool. Mahone is confident he has all he needs to anticipate and apprehend Michael. Michael, who has the amazing ability to look hot even when he's wearing beige, is unlocking his handcuffs. If this was a musical, Mahone would be singing: "I will catch him! He is mine! There is nowhere he can run!!!" at the same time Michael is singing: "Freedom! I will not be caught again! Lay on, Mahone!!!"
And that was 'Manhunt." *meep* What will happen next?
