This morning I took my laundry to uni simply because it's easier with bed sheets to take them to the laundromat for them to do because it's too hard for me to dry them here. Everything else I can wash and hang up to dry here, but bedsheets are too big and bulky and I don't have a dryer.......
While I was there I had a quick peek at the library to see if it was a suitable place for studying until I get my furniture delivered.
Pluses:
1. no smoking
2. plenty of desk space
3. quiet
4. don't have to buy anything
Minuses:
1. temperature varies from very cold to very hot
2. reading rooms have nearby toilets which TOTALLY stink
3. the toilets are awful. Not clean like the toilets in the teaching buildings .......
I might have to consider studying in the cafe in the non-smoking section .......
Here's a photo of my Little Chicken (小鸡) humidifier. Cute? :)
I manage to snap some photos of the alleys near my apartment - no one around today so I was able to quickly take the photos:
After going to the library for a quick peek, I caught the light rail from Zhichun Lu down to Xizhimen Light Rail Station (yellow line). From Xizhimen Light Rail Station, I hopped out and walked across to Xizhimen Subway station. Take a look at the sign below:
From Xizhimen Station I originally planned to get out at Qianmen Station and walk to Tiananmen, but then when I got to Fuxing Lu (blue line), I changed lines here (red line):
and then got out at Tian An Men West Station. I saw this:
And then this:
Take a look at the
virtual tour of the Beijing Subway System. It's very cute and accurate and has sounds and pictures. It really is just like being there!!
Actually the whole
Beijing Guide Website is pretty neat with lots of virtual tours. I recommend having a look! Just turn off the annoyingly loud music :)
When I got back, I got my textbooks and headed off to the library to study. While I was there, one of the "serious" Korean guys in my class from the back corner came up and he actually was extremely nice and friendly. He's studying English as well as Chinese so we were talking about that. Then the other Korean guy came up (the one with glasses) and he was quite friendly too but not as nice as the first guy. So as the days go by, each classmate is turning out to be very nice. We're having a party Friday night - with karaoke. :)
