I take back everything I said. Barty Crouch Jr? Who's that?
David Tennant is Doctor Who. Totally. :) I was extremely nervous as the end of season 1 loomed. I had become so invested in Christopher Eccleston as the doctor and possibly even more invested in the beautiful relationship between the doctor and Rose that I had imagined that there was no way I could accept Tennant in the role no matter how great an actor he is. He's absolutely terrific! I still love Eccelston as the 9th doctor - but now I also love Tennant as the 10th doctor. Amended: Eccelston comes across as being a bit more laddish .... Tennant is rather more bookish-looking. Both are adorable! Unfortunately, this means that I am now dying of suspense - what's the exact date season 2 starts? :)
The show is beautifully written - funny, suspenseful, exciting, poignant and sometimes absolutely terrifying. Last night, when I was doing my Panda Eyes Mega Marathon, I almost died of fright when watching "The Empty Child" and "The Doctor Dances". I had to go and turn on all the lights as I made my way back to my room :) I thought I heard something clawing at the front door and had to psyche myself up to go over and check. :) Then I got all choked up and teary in "The Parting of the Ways" and howled: "Nooooooooo!" when the "Christmas Invasion" was over.
I will try to do a 'brief thoughts' by episode post but at this point just wanted to express my incoherent adoration for this amazing series. I was so happy to watch it given how disappointing BSG and Veronica Mars have been for me lately. I was in dire need of a well-written, witty show that doesn't flop all over the place with uneven splats of brilliance. This show actually has characters and dialogue that are consistently well-written and engaging! Yay! :)
Thank you very much to
winterspel for many reasons and not simply because I am shallow and largely started watching it because
winterspel's icons kind of caught my eye. :)
