I just watched it. Given that I am largely in agreement with what dangermousie wrote in her review, I don't see the need to duplicate it

Well said. This was a bleak, depressing episode. I expect BSG to be sad sometimes, but depressing is different from sad. Depressing implies there's no hope of change or growth. And I don't like the implied politics of the past two episodes. First in RS 2 they have Starbuck deifying a fascist who committed war crimes against her *own side* (ask Laird if he thinks the Fleet is safer with Cain or without her. You could try asking his spouse and kids, but they're dead) and now they're showing the star of the show acting like a thug and throttling a prisoner. And of course the 'peaceniks' are presented like idiots, rather than people who have been dicked around for the past six months and can't take it anymore (and as you say, given that Adama threatened to throw a reporter in the brig for asking him a question in Home Pt 1, I think we've established just how much information the Fleet as a whole is given). Mind you, the belligerents like Adar don't come off looking too good either. Oh yeah, Mr. Blustery Macho Posturing, send soldiers to beat up and maybe shoot elementary school teachers on strike. That's a great idea! The Colonies pre-attack seem to have been a disturbingly militaristic society, I'm starting to wonder if Tom Zarek had a point, I'm starting to wonder if the *Cylons* had a point, and I don't much care for the "ends justify the means" attitude being displayed by so many characters. A wee bit of humanity from a *few* characters would be nice. When in the entire episode the only human I feel has any conscience whatsoever is the "toaster-lover", then the show is suffering from a serious problem of characters getting too dark. There's realism, and then there's Lord of the Flies. I don't want the show to get all corny and preachy, but the attitudes the major characters are displaying are really disturbing.
