Bits and pieces: Recommendations on icons, fics and a Veronica Mars post of interest

Defensive look.... In relation to 01. - well it's true! You're never going to get any Veronica/Duncan support from me :) As to 02., 缘分yuánfèn means predetermined affinity and destiny and I stupidly believe in it. :) The third icon needs absolutely no words from me. Hee hee heee.
Given a not particularly good 情绪 in the last couple of days, in fact downright awful to be honest, I'm restricting my present post to recommending things written or created by other people.
Some recommendations
First, a Firefly fic by kiaforrest called Exchanging Words - 3. It's rated PG, has spoilers for the series and is part 3 of a series. Aside from the fact that I've never had a fic dedicated to me before (smile), I am smiling beyond smiling at the fact that kiaforrest has managed to use an ancient Chinese phrase in 'space' and make it work. The phrase in question is 祝你一路順風 (zhu ni yī lù shùn fēng) and I discussed its meaning and origins in a previous post here. Oddly enough though, it's not my favourite line in the story, I'll be posting feedback to kia's story with my favourite line ;) This story is sweet! Part 1 is here.
Secondly, I don't know what I did before I met my 2046 soulmates ginger001 and alexandral. ginger001 has just created a few more 2046, Chinese Odyssey 2 and Andy Lau icons. Although I will probably never love Andy Lau, the 2046 icons and the Chinese Odyssey icons in particular are exquisite. I love the gentle look on Vicky's face and the thoughtful expression on Faye's face in images #14 and #15 respectively. The colouring is gorgeous. Thanks ginger001!

Those on my friends list will have been forced to endure my recent Gushings about Chinese Odyssey 2002 and 2046 pic spam. Sorry to those who are not fans .....
Thirdly, picklepocket who is usually famous for her transcripts, has posted a really interesting post here about nitpicking of fans and Veronica Mars fandom generally.
I now regret posting to her post at veronica_mars though, I should have posted to her private LJ entry :P Her observations apply generally about the nature of fandom and the extent to which fans should have a say in what happens. I guess the reason it struck a chord with me was that I had recently about the possible impact of fan feedback and complaining on the outcome of Little Women. :)

Three Lord of the Rings icons I just culled from my user icons but still like
I love them but I found that I wasn't using them. The first is 'speak friend and enter'. I mean when was I ever going to use that?
I am completely mesmerised by photos of the One Ring. I basically go into ring thrall when I see it and own my own copy of the one ring but there are a few problems with this one which meant that I didn't use it. I didn't like the font or the weird grid thing.
I also love this image of the One Ring lying in the snow but it's the border that makes me not use it:
That being said I really do love icons by ezzvaldez, her Last of the Mohicans icons are particularly lovely. Her 'alone' image which I use all the time, not only completely captures Alice's moment of despair at the end of the movie but also really manages to express a certain 'mood' I find passing through me from time to time. It's a really lovely icon.
Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain / Amélie from Montmartre
I love the movie Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain. It's absolutely gorgeous. I wish I could squash dozens of user icons with Amélie into my icon collection but I cannot. pouringicons has created some beautiful Amélie icons.
Also by pouringicons is the following which I particularly like 'vengeance'. This makes me laugh given that it's a word on which I always make typos. 'Vengenance will be mine' just doesn't have the same ring:

shirtgirl created these two which I call "Sharon White Thoughtfulness" and "Apollo White Thoughtfulness" respectively :) I mean, they're thinking about each other of course ;)
Such a nice picture of Tahomoh and Grace together. I really love some of the icons by bluebear_74, they're really beautiful.

I don't like Six, I've said it before but this icon by ancarett mesmerised me as soon as I saw it. I wonder if this means I'm Evil.
All you never need to know about 冤家 can be read here. I also had a follow-up post about a proverb concerning the word here. The icon was created by repr0b8 who is recovering, along with his pterodactyl...... I hope all is well .... he who is Lurking Out There in LJ Land ....
This is yet another amazing use of colour by shadowserenity. How does she make a tiny image look so powerful and emotional?

I will probably never use a Scrubs icon but I love this show so much and these icons by lvlwing are really cute and made me smile.

I could talk about icons forever. But I won't. I have much homework to do. There have been many phonecalls and lots to ponder and I don't tend to write in my journal when I'm feeling blah. Hera 小妹妹 don't worry about me, I'll be fine. I got your emails and will reply soon when 我的心情/情绪好一点儿.....
