Blurb: The story of humankind’s last stand against a cataclysmic alien invasion. In the war-ravaged African countryside, a U.S. soldier and a French foreign aid worker team up to survive the alien onslaught. Their bond will be tested as they search for refuge across a crumbling world.

Bo, an American soldier played by Lee Pace is fighting a battle in Africa.

We discover that the Earth has been attacked by evil robots.

Bo is knocked unconscious and wakes up in a jail next to Nadia, a doctor, played by the beautiful Bérénice Marlohe.

He has amnesia and she gives him some information about what has happened, but he ignores her warning and makes noise, attracting people towards the prison - leading to both of them being attacked. Bo returns to the prison to rescue Nadia but she has saved herself because she's pretty badass.

She looks like a combination between a young Catherine Zeta Jones and a brunette Jennifer Lawrence

The two of them go on a journey to the border in search of Bo's station and of course bond.

It's a surprisingly interesting and compelling journey.

The aliens are interesting-looking.

Bo and Nadia are a good pairing and while attraction burgeons between them, the film does not descend into romance at inappropriate moments.

The film's ending is a combination of closure and cliff hanger and I would quite easily watching a sequel. I doubt there will be one though.
