My Mad Fat Diary: Missing scene from episode 2.04 Friday
One of the things that really irked me in 'Friday' was where on earth were the gang? I refuse to believe for a second that they wouldn't have showed up to offer Rae support. The confrontation was public knowledge. They knew where it would be and when it would be and how terrified Rae was. Why was Chloe the only one who showed up? This is entirely inconsistent with what we know about each of Chop, Archie, Izzy and Finn.
This isn't a proper fan fic, which is why I'm not posting it over at AO3. It's just a scribble to make myself feel better :P This takes place on Friday morning, directly after Archie's revelation at the chip shop.

As they all get up to head to college and Chop to work, Archie asks her. "Where do you want to meet after college today to walk over and …"
"No, Arch," she tells him quietly.
"We're all coming with you this afternoon," Chop announces, relieved to have something else to talk about. His mind is still trying to process this morning's revelation. It definitely hadn't been what he had been expecting when Rae had phoned then all early in the morning, telling them that Archie had something to say.
"No." Rae says again.
"No?" Finn demands. "I think you're going to need us," he tells her, his voice very serious.
"And what are you going to do?" she asks, her face very determined. "You can't stand in front of me and protect me ... you'll make it worse and it'll just become a brawl if you become involved. No. I have to go alone."
"Rae that's crazy," Finn tells her.
"You'll get hurt," Izzy says anxiously.
"Liam's promised me he'll be there," Rae tells them seriously. "He'll explain to Amy that there's nothing going on between us … there won't be a fight," she tells them determinedly, not sure if she's trying to convince them or convince herself.
The others exchange glances but say nothing.

"Rae's gonna be so pissed off with us when she finds out," Archie says in a low voice as they gather after classes are done.
"Where's Rae now?" Chop demands as he jogs up to them.
"She set out off about 5 minutes ago," Izzy says, almost bursting with impatience as she grabs Chop's hand and tries to pull him down the pathway.
"Where's Chloe?"
"I'm here!" Chloe says breathlessly as she hurries up to them. "Has she left already?"
"Yeah but we can catch up," Finn says in a low voice.
"What are you thinking of doing?" Archie demands. "You said so yourself that you can't punch a girl."
"No idea. Build a human shield if I have to," Finn replies and the group walk quickly to the prearranged meeting place. They watch Rae, a solitary figure making her way to the park area near the railway tracks.
"Bushes or the fence?" Chop queries.
"Fence is closer," Finn decides and they all huddle behind the fence, watching intently as Rae stares around, pale and clearly very apprehensive about what is to come.
"No sign of Liam," Archie remarks.
"No surprises there," Finn says in a low voice.
Amy, flanked by Lois and Vicky march up purposefully, Amy's stride deliberate and angry. She pulls off her parka as she approaches Rae, tossing it towards Vicky who in turn throws it at Lois to hold. Vicky's smiling with almost ghoulish glee on her face. It's odd that someone so pretty can look so ugly with spite.
"I’m not going to fight you, Amy," they hear Rae declare firmly.
"So what you're just goin' to stand there while I smash your head in, are you?" Amy demands derisively, contempt in her eyes.
"I don't know," Rae admits honestly, her hands clutching her sides convulsively as Amy's ringed fingers tighten into fists.
"Chloe no!" Archie whispers but before they can do anything, Chloe's burst out of their hiding spot and is running over to Rae's side.
"This isn't going to happen!" she declares breathlessly, putting her arm out. Rae stares at her best friend in shock, unable to believe that Chloe is actually here.
"Chloe - what are you doing? You said you weren't going to take sides," Lois reminds her.
"Yeah well she's my best mate," Chloe exclaims,"And I don't care if she doesn't tell you where they were together. I believe her, she wouldn't do something like that."
"You get out of my way Chloe, I mean it."
"I’m not scared of you, Amy." There's a stunned silence. "You've got this reputation as a hard case. Where's your proof?"
Amy's fist shoots out and knocks Chloe to the ground.
"There's your proof," Amy says grimly.
"Are you all right?" Rae demands as she helps Chloe to her feet.
"Wait," Chop says, putting out up a hand when it looks as though Archie and Finn are likely to go rushing out in the same manner as Chloe. "Raemondo's got it under control …"
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" they hear Rae demand passionately, turning to face Amy. "I've got something I need to tell you … I didn't want you to have to find out from me but I need to tell you the truth." Her voice is slightly shaky but determined.
"Well on then, say what you've got to say," Amy tells her.
"Me and Liam. We kissed last night."
Archie senses Finn tensing at his side at the same time Amy demands,"Kissed?"
"Yeah," Rae tells her, her voice tearful and regretful. Beside her, Chloe is looking incredulous. "We hadn't done it before but yeah we did. And I’m sorry," Rae says sincerely.
Amy's face crumples for a moment before she runs away, Lois and Vicky following closely behind.
Rae looks around and stare at Chloe. "Chloe - I'm so sorry," she tells her.
"Yeah," Chloe says shortly and walks off, not glancing at Rae and not glancing over at where Finn, Chop, Izzy and Archie are hiding behind the fence.
"Guess I'd better be heading off," Chop says to no one in particular. Izzy tucks her arm through his and waves goodbye at Finn and Archie, her normally smiling face very sober.
They watch for a minute as Rae stands alone, looking around looking miserable and ashamed. Then she walks away quickly.
"Finn - " Archie starts to say.
"Fuck this," he mutters, shoving his hands into the pockets of his jacket and walking off, his face shuttered and cool.
After a moment's hesitation, Archie follows after Rae, determined to get to the bottom of this rubbish with Liam.
