Pondering Stargate Atlantis and my multiple ships ...
It was weird that tielan was just referring to Stargate Atlantis because when I was doing my 2013 fic round up, I went back to previous years when I was writing more and started re-reading my old Stargate Atlantis fan fics.
Stargate Atlantis was an interesting fandom for me because I didn't like Stargate proper, but I really loved Stargate Atlantis. It really was an ensemble cast with so many different and interesting characters. It had drama and humour ... I think it waned a little towards the end but for me, that was largely due to the removal of Elizabeth Weir's character. Although a fairly divisive character, she was my favourite character. It was also an odd choice for me because normally I'd go for the ethnic warrior woman Teyla - it was a bit weird for me to be liking a soft-spoken bureaucrat who didn't do a lot of fighting and usually didn't get to go on the adventures.
The primary ship in SGA seemed to be the slash pairing of McKay/Sheppard. While I could see why so many people saw and supported that pairing, it didn't do it for me.
I usually like one pairing, maximum two but with SGA I actually had several.I liked John Sheppard/Elizabeth Weir for a lot of reasons which I won't go into now.
- I liked Ronon Dex/Elizabeth Weir
- I liked Evan Lorne/Lindsey Novak - two minor characters that I found endearing.
- I even paired off John Sheppard/Lindsey Novak at one point because I always love the whole confident, borderline arrogant military dude with awkward, nerdy girl.
- I also wrote a couple of Teyla Emmagan/Michael Kenmore fics on request.
I have 16 Stargate Atlantis fics. The fic Shipper Ground Zero was me poking fun at the variety of ships in the fandom - but also loving how permissive it was as a fandom to crazy pairings. It was such a refreshing change to the earnest BSG fandom which used to get really snotty when people supported "batshit pairings" and could be quite rude about it.

Storytelling: Inspired by a fic called Unwritten by river_soul which was an Elizabeth, Ronon, Lorne/Novak story. I adore it and it keeps burning a hole in my brain. Her summary for the story was: "Elizabeth is injured on an off world mission and Lorne sees something he shouldn't".
Inevitable: Set during season 2. Nothing beyond the season finale of season 2.
