The Chicago Code 1×08: Wild Onions (some brief comments)

Apr 14, 2011 12:29

In this episode, Chicago is in the middle of a very severe heatwave - thereby bringing out the crazies. There are a number of different plot-lines going on but the one that interested me involved Superintendent Teresa Colvin - and a potential ship :D

I cut because there are spoilers :)

After all this time, Teresa finally picks a replacement driver to replace Betz who was killed earlier in the series.

She picks Officer Ray Bidwell, a cop who has served two tours in Iraq and is under no illusions about why she picked him - he's the only one who doesn't have a family to grieve about him if he's killed.

Ray realises pretty quickly that despite her position, Teresa isn't the sort to stay behind her desk - while they're out on a visit to a fire station, she insists that they take a call to respond to a nearby robbery because they happen to be closest to the crime. It's pretty clear he's going to have his hands full keeping her safe.

Ray: "Ma'am, do you want to wait in the car?"

Teresa: "Do I LOOK like I want to wait in the car????"

Teresa's cool head and natural authority save the day

Ray asks if they're going to be answering calls all the time because it would be a dampener on his career if he got the superintendent killed on his first day of guarding her ...

Teresa underestimates him at first but he earns a little of her trust during his first day, and at least manages to make her smile a little bit for a change. There's a pretty nice potentially shippy scene at the end of the episode - bennet_7 pic spams it here so I won't ...

Very sweet, very nice ... Yeah he's a lot younger than her and she's his boss but I like how he gets past her prickly exterior. She seems so alone, lonely and guarded - I think she needs more than just one friend and Bidwell could be the one.

With only one episode left to go in the season and possibly the series, my hopes for a ship eventuating are pretty low ... I'd like icons of this pairing - hell I'd like icons for the show in general :)

ETA: Oh - and Bidwell "ma'ms" her. It's so cute - makes my shippy heart want to implode.
