Now I could not resist to look for the movie on the web ;)
i'm very curious! I love movies with historic narrative. And I named my dog after Ghensis Khan grandson, Koubilaï Khan :)))
the mongolian grasslands are georgous!

Heh you'll find the movie fascinating - the cinematography and the recreations of the old kingdoms are wonderful

I saw this just a few weeks ago, and I agree that the cinematography is stunning. I also rather liked Borte and her no-nonsense attitude.

I'm glad you mentioned this. I was also quite impressed by how she managed to retain her composure and bravery despite the rather horrific things that happened to her. She chose Temujin, she killed her kidnapper when she realised that there was a chance of escape, she rescued Temujin etc. She was very self-possessed and capable

I saw this last year, mostly for Tadanobu Asano, and enjoyed it although it was violent in spots! Sun Honglei couldn't have been more different from his role The Road Home. ;-) I remember reading online comments about stuff ups in the film - e.g. that Borte is supposed to be older than Temudjin but as adults he looks at least 20 years older...
