Not all the same cast but most. Also, I didn't recognise Reggie without her glasses.

The movie is scheduled for release this year.

The tv-show was good, I hope the movie is going to be too.

Is it just me or are they following Joss Whendon's footsteps?

Yes. Apparently if the movie goes well, they'll restart the series :)
