As I indicated in my previous entry, last week I attended a meeting with the District Attorney to discuss new employment. At the time, the interview didn't seem to go very well. I was, after all, sporting a black eye at the time (the swelling has gone down considerably since then). But I know a thing or two of about office politics, and I expected it--after the trouble I caused before my abrupt departure, it wouldn't be prudent of them to accept me back with open arms. These kinds of negotiations are always delicate matters.
Not that they were in any position to reject me entirely, either. The district is in need of prosecutors, and I can imagine that I'm a rather convenient solution. I'm in no position to fight for top pay or special treatment. A man in debt is a valuable asset for any office.
Anyway, to make a long story short, I received a call about an hour ago that I've been re-hired as a prosecutor. My salery will be much less than it once was, but I'm confident that I'll be able to build back my former prestige rather quickly. I'm looking forward to the oppertunity to prove myself again.
It ought to be...an interesting challenge.
