Last week was filled with too many trips to the K Ranch for what was always suppose to be one drink. Though, I do believe that one night was just one drink and that my friend was an accomplishment. The best night there was Thursday because the Miller girls were there and we got a free personalized shirt with our signatures on it. I was excited and wish that they had something other than an XL. To make Thursday even better than that, I was at Erika's all afternoon until 9pm. She made this delicious shrimp chowder and I wish I had had room for seconds. Also, the neighbor next to them has his son living with him now, and I'm not sure how old he is, but I so wanted him and didn't have enough guts to ask him over for a beer. That was Thursday for ya.
Friday was just a bad day all around. I went by Erika's to give her one of those Miller shirts, and then left shortly there after because she wasn't felling well. Samantha came over for a while in the afternoon and I bought some vodka that had a $2 mail in rebate. My sister Michele called (my Dad's daughter) and she seemed a little frantic on the phone. Our Dad wasn't home and I askedif he could call her back. Then she said she didn't know where she would be etc. At this point I asked her what was wrong and she told me that she had been having pain in her neck for quite some time now. She'd gone to a chiropractor and he had told her that she should be feeling better by now with everything he's done. He sent her for an MRI where they found a tumor in her neck, that is at the end of her brain stem and the top of her spinal cord. It is not cancerous, however it just being there could paralize her. She has to get surgery and one wrong move and she can end up a quadrapolegic. (sp?) My Dad was very very broken up about it all and my house that just started to get normal again, went chaotic. I went to dinner at Houlihans with Shara and Megan, and that was good. Then we went to the K Ranch to meet Vesna when she got off of work so we could go to a cookout. Then Denise called and told us her Dad had passed away, which was unbelievable. He had gotten sick 2 weeks ago, and they had found a spot on his lung and diagnosed him with lung cancer. Then, 2 weeks go by and he's dead. I feel so bad for her. I think she had a little bit of hope when it all happened because she remembered my Dad and how he went into the hospital and came out alright. We had some drinks in honor of him and then there was this moment that didn't make Friday a complete disaster...
There was this guy across the bar who kept smiling at me. So I'd smile back and this game went on for a while. I told Shara and said that I thought he was cute. Then her supervisor Oliver told me that I shouldn't bother because that guy is super shy. I'm like psht whatever, I've got game. So I motioned for him to come over and he did. Long story short, after talking to him it came out that he was from Racine and was friends with Erika in high school. Amazingly small world...yes yes it is.
Tomorrow I'll be at the hospital all day for my sisters anywhere from 6-16 hours surgery.
