Second Patrol - Evening Traditions

Jul 23, 2010 13:13

[For the past two days, and for the foreseeable future for the time being, a sad and bellowing cry is heard from the back yard of 5724 Cunningham, as if trying to reach someone very very far away. This goes out every evening at precisely 6PM.]

Where is my cow?
Is that my cow?
It goes "Baaaa!"
It is a sheep!
No, that is not my cow!

Where is my cow?
Is that my cow?
It goes "Naaaaay!"
It is a horse!
No, that is not my cow!

Where is my cow?
Is that my cow?
It goes "HRUUUUGH!"
It is a hippopotamus!
No, that is not my cow!

And so on ending with

Where is my cow?
Is that my cow?
It goes "Moooo!"
Yes! That's my cow!
Hooray, hooray, it's a wonderful day, for I have found my cow!

A short time after this ends, Vimes can be seen walking the streets of Mayfield, on patrol and keeping an eye out for any disturbances. Occasionally he stops on a crack or feature of the pavement and rocks on it a few times, as if memorizing it.
