Breaking news: people can have different opinions.

Nov 06, 2010 22:47

I was feeling butthurt when I realized that no one honestly cares about my personal opinions except for me. Still, I have the urge to explain myself so as not to appear ridiculous to another who already have a low opinion of me over my choice of media ( Read more... )

I could have sworn I responded to your last journal, bt I may not have so I apologize! I hope you're back home now though as I know the trip made you nervous.

I too have lots of stuff very little people are interested in (even if I have at least one online friend that seems to share much of the same interests) and my advice is.... revel in it all you like. Enjoy your fandoms, and don't worry what people think of them.
Who know,s, you may even inspire people to check them out ;)

I'm not home. I may be stuck here in Canada forever. I'm fairly nervous and nervy and freaking out all the while; I just didn't want to fill my flist with my hysterics. I really want to go home but there's probably no place to go home to.

I like what I like! I just feel so dumb whenever some other people talk crap about stuff I like. Which equally stupid, because, people DO have different opinions.

Haha, I fear to appearing TOO crazy/obsessed with my fandoms. :P

Don't worry about people judging you about what you play. There will always be someone else who likes it, too, especially here on the internet. (people irl don't usually get it, though. :|)

While I will never deny my love of games or stuff like webcomics, I certainly won't go around parading them in real life. I don't get why I still get so self-conscious if the reason I like one game is precisely the reasons others hate it. Except for Pokemon, which is the butt of jokes for most everywhere. (Until it started becoming cool again.)

Everyone has different tastes. But as long as you don't act like that Megaman jerk I talked about on an earlier post of mine and act like people who don't share your opinion are somehow less than you, then it really isn't a problem.

I have the same problem with worrying too much about what people think about me liking fandom and stuff.

The people I knew in college I tried to hide it from, which must have made me look like even more of a freak. ("Oh, you're going to Toronto? What are you going for?" "Oh, it's an uh...event? Yeah." "About what?" "Well, it's uh, how do I explain it...THEY SELL WEAPONS!" it was the first thing that popped into my head about anime conventions for some reason and they looked at me like I was on fire.)

Moral of the story: People who judge you by what you like are retards and should be ignored/bitchslapped (oh, and don't do what I did).

Winter in Quebec is brutal and unfortunately it's getting closer to that time. D: Man, I'd love a Shinjiro coat to keep the chill away. :D

But that's the most badass way to describe a con. Haha, SELLING WEAPONS.

I know it shouldn't matter because I'll never meet them in real life; if they don't care for my taste then why should I...but, augh, pressure.

NOBODY TOLD ME CANADA WOULD BE THIS COLD. :'C
