bleh
Well I'm back in the hell hole called Arkansas. UPS nearly distroyed my computers. Talon, which is my linux box, is the most beat up of them all. his hard drive cage is all bent, I'm surpized the drives even work. the case is warped all to hell. I've had to take a pair of pliers to the side panel and bend some of the brackets out where it would atleast shut decently. The AGP port on the motherboard is toast. when I unpacked it the video card had came out, the heatsink on it broke off, and the agp port was somewhat twisted. I know the card still works but the agp port is a goner. Luckily I had not tossed ALL of my old pci cards and found my old ATI Mach64 thats still works enough to get my fileshares on the hard drives back up and going. I figure Talon will be the first one I replace when I get a job.
The job market here is worse than when I left. there have been alot of businesses laying off people AND going bankrupt.
Mom still has not been able to get a car because no one wants to work with her as she only has 200 bucks to put down on a car.
My cellphone is about to get cut off so I have to rely on my crappy broadband connection for my only phone. oh well atleast its faster than dialup. 1mbps down 320kbps up. Oh and get this. the line slows down to ISDN speeds (64-128kbps downstream) during the hottest part of the day. I havent figured out why yet but there is a tech coming out thursday to see whats up.
I have now just gotten my room cleaned out to the point I could put my computers in here. Mom had used my room for storage while I was gone. my closet is an avalanche waiting to happen and my bed is covered with boxes.
well I'm exaughsted. I'm going to go snag one of mom's small beers and probably go to bed on the couch. hopefully by the end of the week I'll have my bed cleaned off enough to sleep on.
