Well. I haven't updated in a while because well I really haven't felt like it. I've been busy as hell lately. Like, tomorrow will be the first night I haven't been out doing something in a couple weeks, and that's just because I decided to take the night off to chill. Chill, mmm.
I can't even remember some of the stuff I've been doing recently. I really need to work on my short-term memory. Weekends just become blurs come Monday night. Anyway, The Decline now has a drummer. This guy Alvero, says to call him Al. Lives in Philly, he's from Bolivia. Sick stuff. Great drummer, cool guy. He's 21, married. Definately not a loose cannon. He's been playing and recording in bands since he was like 14. And it's good stuff, I listened. Great recordings and music. It's like spanish jazz and funk stuff. Very slick. He can also sing very well. Anyway enough of that.
Today in class I was reading a book for the first 2 hours of class, and we took a break and the professor walks up to me and says "Jim, could you please stop reading during class it's very impolite. If you have to read please leave." so I started apologizing and shit and she ignore me, so I was like fuck this grabbed my shit and walked out. I mean come on. Anyway I was reading Fahrenheit 541 which I can't believe I have never read. It's so good. I started it last night and just finished it about an hour ago. Read it, it rocks.
I finally finished working on my bass. I had to dremel out a chunk where the bridge goes because the new one I bought sits too high. The action is perfect now. I just have to sand it down a bit under the bridge and I'm gonna paint it black so the bare wood doesn't stand out so much. This shit took hours, but it was worth it. I gotta get new strings too, but I'm holding off on that until we start recording the final tracks for the album because I don't have the money right now anyway.
Speaking of the album. We've got all the scratch tracks done now. I dunno where we're going from here. Before we got Al we were gonna program the drums electronically so we had something to record final guitars and vocals and bass to, and then let Scott learn them and record the real drums. But now maybe we'll just jam with Al, let him listen to the scratch tracks and write some stuff and do the whole deal. Probably the best idea, he says he wants to practice like whoa nelly now that he's definately in the band. Which is great, I'm all for it. And he knows the Philly club scene pretty well so we should be able to start getting around.
AND
NEW RAMMSTEIN ALBUM THIS MONDAY. Ah the single is amazingly goodly, and you should goto www.herzeleid.com to hear it or watch the video. Me and my sister are probably going halves on the new album and I'll just burn a couple copies to share. Oh man I can't wait. I'm not missing them next time they come around. New Green Day is out too, but I don't feel like buying it. Maybe somebody will be nice enough to burn me a copy.
Any takers?
