A Greater Geek Than We May Ever Be

I'm sure all my fellow-geeks on here are aware of this by now: Gary Gygax, co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons, has passed away.

And I very much love Order of the Stick's tribute to the man, so I recommend reading this strip of OotS to one and all.

Truly his works helped change a lot of lives, my own among them. I remember my first games of D&D with my brother and his friends. To me it was fun because I got to play with the older kids and my brother didn't actually act like a tyrant when we played. Hell, he even stood up for me in the sort subtle in-game kind of ways that mean even more years later than they did at the time. I kept playing, long after, while he did not, but it's how I got started in being a roleplayer and a girl geek and I'm damn happy with that being a huge part of who I am. I know I'm not the only one either.

So truly, My. Gygax, you will be remembered and honored, sir. I tip my hat and roll my dice to you.
