Even though it was an act of instinct, the fact remains the the bull was the one to finally kill the princess. Likewise, the princess may be forgiven for ignoring the warning signs in the wake of her emotional distress, but that doesn't relieve her of fault. The prince and the king were more removed from the unfortunate event, but the prince was more to blame than the king because his actions were entirely self-motivated.

Somehow I'm not surprised by your line of reasoning. It really does fit your personality.

Should I consider that a good thing or a bad thing?

You didn't put the Princess first.

Putting the bull first is supposed to signify the fact you understand whatever is the direct cause of something is to blame. At the same time, however, the Princess is supposed to signify taking responsibility for your own actions.

And what do the prince and the king indicate?

Supposedly, the Prince is what caused an incident to begin. The King represents outside forces you have no control over--but it's sort of similar to the bull in that regard.

That's what the book said, anyway.

I thought it was.

The thing is, I had to translate it from English into Japanese... so I might have gotten a few things wrong. Itoshiki-sensei isn't the best teacher, so....

You're learning about philosophy in your English class?

No, it... was something I wanted to do on my own. All of the books in the library are in English, so.... it was both to practice the language as well as having a bit of fun.

Besides, it felt odd not having that kind of discussion with you for so long.

Are you trying to imply that you want to talk with me more often?

No! -- No.

It's just that it's something we used to do back home. It kind of makes me feel like things are normal when we have those sorts of discussions. It's hard to avoid the fact we're in a dystopian city, but at least it would feel less weird.

I didn't think you'd feel that way.
