[Whooo, beer-o-clock time! Why yes, this is the pub. But everyone has broken off to do their own thing. Chris being the full-time gopher has gone off the fetch the drinks. Because, well, Ray probably wanted a pint, so Ray gets a drink.

SO NOW HE RETURNS with le alcohol]

Got'em! Right cold one out tonight. This'll help.

[And Ray, of course, is in his usual spot in the pub - right up against that pillar thing, leaning against it. When Chris returns, he flashes him a grin.]

Aye, that it will. Don't fancy headin' out until I'm right pissed.

[Hurray, happy!Ray! Thus Chris is happy and will be drinking from his whatever; all you need to know is that mmm alcohol]

Me neither. Always feels a bit warmer once you've got a pint or two down.

Yeah, odd, ain't it? Never quite figured out why that happens.

Maybe it's the cold and the cold beat each other out. Or cos it burns a bit in your throat.

Well, whatever it is, it works. And I'm countin' on it for the drive home. Heater's out in the car.

Maybe. Gonna see if givin' it a few good whacks doesn't fix it first.

[Ray pulls out his cigarettes and automatically pulls out two, one for himself and one for Chris] I'm thinkin' if it isn't working by Saturday that I oughta get a mechanic.

[Chris accepts the cigarette with a nod to Ray's statement] Yeah, should be good enough. Can't really worry about it 'til then, eh?

[Armed with his zippo, he holds his hand out to light Chris'] As long as it don't get too cold before then, it ain't a problem.

[He leans forward, letting Ray light it, before pulling back and taking the usual first drag] Almost makes me glad I don't have one of me own. [Except you can tell he's a bit bummed over it. Cars are cool, man. They get birds. He needs birds.]

[And he lights his own before stuffing the lighter away] Bloody expensive, they are. [He takes a drag] Take my advice, Chris. When you get around to gettin' one, get one that isn't fallin' apart.

[he shakes his head, holding his cigarette away as he drinks from his pint.] I'll take anything I could get, really. But I want one that's good for the birds.

[a nod] Then a junker ain't gonna work. That's a given.

Yeah, I'm thinking...something red. Or something like the Guv's. [pauses] Not that price, though. But that'll make'em look, right?
