I... suppose I must have missed the announcement. But-!

[And he sounds winded.]

-would someone be so kind as to explain why on earth my... ability... seems to have vanished? It would have come in quite handy a few moments ago!

[Hakkai can be found in a tree. After being chewed on when he attempted to form his usual barrier. Good job, buddy.]

bleeding and broken, a tactical retreat, chi fail, no monocle smile, infos plz, pay attention hakkai, not as planned!

It's something about this place. A lot of people's abilities are missing.

[After his escape he had felt weaker then before. Whether or not it was merely fatigue remains to be seen, but here he definitely isn't as fast or strong as normal. That had sure been one pleasant surprise.]

I don't get it. Weapons sure, but how can they take away our abilities?

Ah... I suppose I should have paid more attention, shouldn't I?

[He pauses, climbing a bit higher in the tree.]

I've honestly no idea. Some sort of limiter, perhaps?

If they want us to fight monsters then why limit what we can do?

I've honestly no idea. It seems very counter-intuitive.

Maybe it's not a limiter...some kinda side effect maybe? I don't know.

[Seriously, there has to some kind of side effect to all this crazy.]

A side effect? Of what?

Not a clue. Being taken here?

[Can't be the death thing.]

I'm just guessing.

You'd think our hosts would have rectified the situation... if our best abilities had been neutralized by their efforts.

Maybe they can't do anything about it. That or it's a limiter for whatever reason.

[Planning and figuring stuff out, not really his thing.]

It still seems rather useless to call for help... only to have that help be unable to function to their full potential.

Guess that means that the side-effect-can't-do-anything-about-it theory is the most likely.

Unfortunately, yes, it's starting to look that way.
