I got laid off at the library back in May, and I only get about 10 hours a week at Hellmark, so this summer has been filled with a whole lotta sitting around and a whole lotta smoking. For a few months the rent at Doug's house was a serious drain on my money reserves, so yesterday I've officially moved in with my friend Alex and his family. The move only took about 2 hours, but it was super hot and humid out. Afterward we went to the pool, where I'm attempting to learn how to swim.
It should be okay, but one thing that really bothers me is Bill. Before I moved yesterday, the house I was in was me, my brother Bill, Doug, and his girlfriend Christina. Bill and Doug are good friends, but they can only do so much together since Doug and Christina had a baby a month ago. He just sits at home, smokes, and watches TV alone all the time. On top of that, he lost his job, too, and is completely broke. Every time I think about it I feel like crying. I know that even if I stayed at that house I wouldn't be able to help him with money or anything, but I still feel really sorry for him. There's not much he can do without money, and everyone I know that's been looking for a job for the past several months hasn't found one. Two nights ago I got him to come over here and hang out with me and my friends. They get along pretty well, but I don't think Bill would hang out with them when I'm not here.
I myself have been toning down on the smoking, since two nights ago I got super burned out, ate a little too much, and felt like crap yesterday. Last night we went to a friend's house in South Philly to have another smoking marathon, and it was surprisingly easy to pass on the third round. That was fine in the end, because even though it was a good 2 hours between the last time I smoked and us getting home, I was still pretty out there when I actually went to bed. I've gained a noticeable amount of weight since the summer (aka smoking almost every day) started, and I'm going to try to reverse that as much as possible before I leave for Japan. Alex's sister has also moved in and brought an exercise bike and weights with her, which I've been using. Soon I'm gonna get started on an actual workout schedule. I miss going to the gym at school.
