Shuuichi was talking to Jerry about the cake when he noticed the girl arriving to the Cafeteria.

"Hermione!" He waved his arm over his head. "Happy birthday! Do you like it?" He meant the decorations all over the place.

The first thing Hermione had seen when she walked in was the pretty decorations around the cafeteria. When she had invited people to dinner, she had expected it just to be that... dinner. Not an actual party. She was almost confused and questioning whether she had walked into the wrong room when she caught sight of Shuuichi.

Of course, he was the one who told her he was decorating. She giggled and picked up the edge of her dress while she hurried to his side.

"Oh Shuuichi, it looks wonderful!"

"You do too! That's a very pretty dress!" He leans in a bit and puts a hand his mouth, as if telling a secret. "I'm sure Vergil would like to see it too!"

Hermione leaned in to hear what he had to say but quickly stepped back and slapped him on the shoulder. Was the entire world now aware of whatever had happened between Vergil and herself?

"Why would you say such a thing?"

He squealed when she slapped him, but his grinning face didn't got away. "After he gave such a beautiful present, you could thank him porperly! Maybe a dance!"

Despite how much she wanted to correct Shuuichi, she couldn't help that perhaps the guy was right. She was aware of how Vergil felt for her and how thoughtful that gift was. She fought the urge to play around with it.

"I don't think he dances."

"But maybe he'll do an exception for you! I wouldn't have thought of him as romantic either, but he gave you a very pretty present!" He pointed at the object in her hands. His words came out so certain, too. As if Shuuichi was talking based on his own experience.

Hermione just watched him for a bit fiddling with her fingertips nervously as her eyes started searching for Vergil around the room. Although a piece of her was actually rather hopeful that what Shuuichi had said was right, she knew it was wrong. Horribly wrong of her to wish for it. They had this fight before.

"We should... get some food. I'm a bit thirsty." She muttered, beckoning him to move onward.

Shuuichi followed her, still grinning. In his experience, that face followed by an "I'm a bit thirsty" actually meant "I'm emotional and need to get drunk".

"We have all kinds of food~ And drinks too! Did Hermione ever try sake?"
