surprisingly even tho i havent made an entry in so long, ive been on livejournal all the time, checkin the comms. havent been doing that much lately, just writing some and recording weekly or so, o ya and workin. id record more often but my equipment is in rons room, so i gotta go there to record. and i gotta lug my computer over there, cuz the quality on his comp aint real good. guess this is payin dues, doin w/e we gotta to get music finished.

i learned that i can have real good delivery, i just gotta get more amped. so before we recorded last time, we watched battles from smack dvds first. them shits get u hype. jin ripped a nigga named verse, who apparently used to be signed to bad boy but puff stuck him in some group instead of lettin him be by himself. i wish i could freestyle better. so umm what was i talkin bout...? the critic is on tv and its hard to pay attention to this and that show. eeermmmm..we rerecorded victory, with much more energy. and i redid most of my parts of 123, and session-b4-last ron recorded a song called i still love u tho. its our first "heartfelt" song, rons talkin bout how some shit happened in his life where ppl hurt him, but he still has love for em. then i wrote a hook for it. feels nice to be asked to write a hook for someone's song. toya thinks we should have someone sing a hook for that song, it prolly aint a bad idea, but i have no clue who to get to do it. and whoever would do it would have to be a good writer, cuz i dont know if i can write r&b shit.

toya listened to all 3 new songs, she really loves victory. but she wishes that we could take less noticeable breaths. me i like the breaths, they show that the intensity of the song is real cuz we was workin so hard we was runnin out of breath. and we did work hard, did mad takes of each verse to get em right. plus it makes the song feel "realer" to me, i coulda taken the breaths out in mastering, but the song didnt sound right when i did. im glad that she cares enough to give me so much criticism, especially when i ask other niggas what they think of my rhymin and they tell u "u got a lil skills."

toya also says we should do more topical songs. but we've already been workin on 5 of em. they are:
  • a song called 6 ft deep, about what else, death.
  • a untitled song where the hook goes "what is it that makes u, so gangsta", we're gonna get a girl to do her kelis impression for that hook. and that pretty much tells u what the song is about. so far its our only song complainin bout hip-hop, so i dont wanna hear no "done to death" comments.
  • a song about still havin fight in u, not waitin for death. the concept goes with the sample at the beginning of the instrumental. wait till u hear the instrumental, off the meter
  • a song called black thoughts where we spit train of thought rhymes.
  • and a story song where we tell a story from the perspective of three people who heard about an event, then from the perspective of the guy who actually was in the event.

3 of these are gonna be done on original beats from ppl on soundclick who are offering their beats for free. remind me to holler at the beatmakers, once the songs are written and i know the song structure i wanna get new versions of the beats(as opposed to the ones posted on soundclick) that match the song structure. im gettin better at mastering too, and i oughta screw with beatmakin more.

theres this guy on campus who goes by the name archie the messenger. he does spoken word, and apparently has an album(of spoken word) comin soon. ron is friends with him and they to a open mic poetry night together. archie sold 20 cds that night, wasnt even pushin em, just he performed at the thing then ppl was askin him for the cd. and ron told me bout poetry slams, i gotta see one one day. i never heard of competitive poetry, but these guys basically battle with poetry. i like poetry and all, and i appreciate it, but it doesnt hold a candle to mc'in for me. like when i see archie performin, i just want him to put a beat on and start rockin it. guess im too into hip-hop. as if there is such a thing.

in non hip-hop news, umm work sucks. standin up all the time sucks giant balls. my heels hurt every time i work. ill deal with it now, but when school starts ima prolly only work like 2-3 days a week, just enough to get a lil extra $, i aint trynna work all the time. and tim and monique are gettin on my last nerves. tims bored all the time, callin me everyday askin me what ima do today, and my answer is always the same: chill. all i do is chill, hip-hop, and work. then he'll be mean to monique, and she starts gettin all sad and shit. talkin kinda suicidal. but i dont believe shes serious, so im tired of hearin it all the time. she puts all her hopes for happiness into tim, then when he fucks up shes devastated, and every time i tell her to find other stuff that makes her happy, she wont listen. so fucking irritating, when u tell someone the answer and they dont wanna hear it.

check out the songs at http://www.soundclick.com/theunion1. the new ones are victory, black thoughts, 123, and i still love u tho. black thoughts is gonna be done on a dif beat, a 9th wonder beat

poetry, the union, suicide, friends, hip-hop
