a little MIA

I guess it's been a little while since I posted.

School is okay, and keeping me busy, which is largely why I haven't posted anything for awhile. I'm learning a lot of interesting things, but I dislike a lot of the theory being presented to us, so I'm struggling both to understand new material and try to figure out what better theory might be. It's frustrating, but hopefully it will keep me from being swallowed by the BS.

My job is going well. I get to scan old books, which is really cool, and helping with a digitization project is really exciting. At the moment, 10 hours a week seems about right in terms of what I can juggle with school plus other stuff, though I am still considering trying to find a second job next semester, just to pull a little more money in. I miss making big people money. :\

A couple maintenance issues with my apartment came up over the past few weeks, but they were quick to fix them, so I continue to be very happy with living here. Got a notice today about leases for next year, so I'm going to go ahead and do that right away; I definitely don't want to move, so I'll try and get a new lease signed before Nov. 18th when they open applications up to the public. Fortunately, the seem to want current tenants to stay, because they're offering discounts on the first month of next year's rent if we let them know we're staying before Jan. 10th.

The plan in regard to getting a snake is moving along. I am feeling confident about my ability to afford it (after initial set-up costs, it's really not going to be very much money on an on-going basis), and it will also be a good pet in terms of how much time/attention it will need from me. Plus, cute snake! I intend to buy supplies and get set up over winter break, and to actually find and purchase a snake sometime in January before classes start. (Long breaks are definitely a bonus of being back in school. -_- )

Okay, that is all I feel like writing for now. I'll try to be a little less MIA. Maybe book talk soon.
