[Here comes Mikaela, a hot girl in a hot car, pulling up in your driveway, Sam. It's been too long since she's been here, hasn't it? Mikaela honks the horn twice and leans out the open window, trying not to think about how weird it was that she was the one in the expensive car, picking him up. A couple years ago, it would've been the other way

[Sam has pretty much been freaking out all afternoon; he'd spent about an hour in the bathroom, maybe more. It had gotten to the point where his parents had started banging on the door, demanding to know if he was okay. He had gone back in to make sure he looked as nice as possible (Sam's self esteem is too low for him to think he actually looked cute or great), and was still fumbling with his hair when he heard the honk. He scrambled out of the bathroom, bolted down the hall and burst out the front door, grinning brightly. His eyes widened at her car, nice.]

H-hey, Mikaela! Nice ride!

[She grinned back automatically, as proud of her Murcielago as if she'd built it herself.] Thanks! [The grin died a little when she remembered that Bruce had bought her this, for her birthday--awkward--but if Sam didn't know, or didn't remember, she wasn't going to bring it up.]

Hop on in, Sam~ Let's go somewhere!

[He nodded to her with a cheesy grin, and he practically ran over to the opposite side.

Sam actually didn't know, and right now he wasn't going to ask. Mikaela had a freakin' Murcielago, Sam wasn't going to ask questions right now. He slid into the passenger side, glancing around the vehicle. Niiiice.]

So, where too?

[She was so, so thankful for that, in that moment. She smiled over at him, waiting for him to close the door and buckle in before backing carefully out of his driveway.]

I dunno! I can't really afford anywhere real fancy right now... Maybe a diner or, like, an IHOP or something?

[Poor Sam looked horrified at the idea of her paying.]

N-no, don't worry about it. I got it; we'll go wherever you want!

[She smiled over him, inexplicably touched despite the fact that he'd offered to pay on practically every date they'd gone on before.]

That's so sweet, Sam, thank you!

[She turns carefully at the end of the road, and then floors it, just to hear the engine roar in front of them.] I'm thinking pancakes.s

Pancakes sound awesome, I'm down for that. Lead the way, Mikaela. [He grinned and settled in his seat. It wasn't 'Bee, but it was nice.]

Cool. [She returned the grin, then turned her attention to the road.] I know a place, not a chain, that serves breakfast stuff 24/7. I think we went there after that concert, remember?

[She cornered, a little less carefully, and then slowed down as the light at the next intersection went yellow.]

Oh yeah, I remember that; that was a fun night. Sure, that works. [Sam flashed her a grin, leaning his head back against the headrest.]

I don't think its to far from here, is it?

[She shook her head, glancing over at him for a moment before the light turned green and she had to start driving again.] Nope, not far at all! Like, ten minutes?

[Or maybe not even that, given how fast she was driving. Not quite 'Bee speed, but she obviously wasn't afraid to use the engine rumbling in this car of hers.]

That's what I thought. [He nodded absently, glancing out the window as the started moving again.]

So like...how've you been and all? I uh...haven't really seen you all that much lately. [Not like he used to, anyway.]

Oh, y'know. All right. [She was silent for a minute, as if that was all she was going to say, but that wasn't fair, was it? To ask him to hang out and then be all awkward.]

Really busy, y'know? With, like. Daddy coming home everything.

[He hesitated after she spoke, the silence was deafining until she said something again. He looked a little relieved, but that was quickly replaced with concern.]

Yeah...I bet. How's that...going, by the way? Everything alright?

[She shrugged, frowning a little.] It's...weird. I mean, you saw them at the...the party thing, right? They're still...like that. 'S awkward, sometimes.

Well...maybe they're trying to get used to each other again, you know? [Sam shifted in his seat, and flashed her a weak little smile.] It probably wont last, you know?

[She caught it out of the corner of her eye and returned it, just as weakly.] Yeah, that's probably it. I mean, it has been, like, almost five years.

They just gotta remember what it's like to have to live with each other.
