Dear co-workers and business associates, (both male and female),
Last I check it wasn't the 1940's. Do not call me "Babe," "Girl," "Hon,*" or "Love.**" While we're at it, my name is "Jessica," not "Jess" or "Jessie."
I almost understand it from some my older co-workers, but when the person it my own age it just leaves me baffled.
Don't mean to sound like prude. My friends can give me nicknames and use these friendly terms of endearment , but you are my co-worker and not my friend.
*Unless you're Cheryl at KCRW. She calls everyone "Hon" and manages to pull it off.
**Unless you're Jason at KCRW who uses ironically or Nic at KCRW who is British. The British get an exception cause I feel like it's more acceptable there (unless
aprettykitty tells me different).
