Judge quits after arrest in cruisy bathroom
GREENVILLE -- A Lexington County magistrate resigned a day after an arrest at a
Greenville Mall men's room on a charge of loitering to engage in sexual activity.
Bruce Rutland was a magistrate for nearly 25 years before he retired
Friday.
Sen. Jake Knotts of West Columbia said Rutland attributed his
retirement to personal reasons.
Greenville County Sheriffs Office spokesman Lt. Shea Smith said
Rutland was arrested at the Upstate mall Thursday afternoon. Smith said the sheriff's
office had launched an investigation of sexual activities in mall bathrooms a couple of
days earlier.
Smith said the misdemeanor offense is a violation of a county
ordinance and can carry a 30-day jail sentence.
Deputies took Rutland before a Greenville County magistrate and he
was released on a $2,500 personal recognizance bond, Smith said.
Elementary
school bathroom surprisingly cruisy
Reported
by Roxanne Lerma
A shocking story surfacing within
the La Joya School District has many parents on edge. Police say two six-year old boys
were performing sexual acts on each other, on campus.
There was a police report taken on the incident that happened April
1. The alleged encounter took place at Emiliano Zapata Elementary School on 7 1/2 Mile
Line and La Homa Road.
We are told the
two six-year-old boys in question, were performing oral sex on each other, in the
restroom.
Minutes later, another six-year-old student walked
in and allegedly discovered what was happening.
Later that night he told his parents, who then reported the incident
to the school principal. The following day a police investigation was launched.
Eventually, because of the age of the suspects officers decided not
to pursue the case.
They say it was an isolated incident.
However, La Joya school district leaders insist they took immediate
corrective action. They say parents of all of the students involved were notified.
Counseling services were also provided to the kids.
This has also changed Zapata Elementary's restroom policies.
Children are now monitored when they go to the bathroom. If at all
possible, students are escorted by a teacher and if not, coaches randomly visit the
restrooms.
Two parents contacted Action 4 News complaining because the little
boys were only given counseling and a brief in-school suspension.
However, administrators say considering the students are only
six-years old, it is the most they could do.
Child Protective Services was also notified about the incident.
American Pie actress allegedly threatens
neighbor with bestiality
Natasha Lyonne is charged with criminal
mischief
(
CNN)--NEW YORK (Reuters) -- A New York judge issued an arrest warrant on Monday for
"American Pie" movie actress Natasha Lyonne, who failed to appear for a court
hearing on charges stemming from a rampage during which she was heard threatening to
molest a neighbor's dog.
Lyonne, 26, is charged with criminal mischief, harassment and
trespass after an unexplained fit of rage last December when authorities said she banged
on the door of her neighbor, stormed into the apartment and ripped a mirror from the wall.
Police called to
the scene said Lyonne told the neighbor, "I'm going to sexually molest your
dog."
Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Abraham Clott issued
the arrest warrant after calling her case three times on Monday. Prosecutors said Lyonne
showed up in court one hour late, stayed 30 minutes, and left.
It is not the first time Lyonne has been in trouble. In 2001, she
lost control of her car while driving drunk, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to six
months probation.
Lyonne has appeared in more than 30 films including "Blade:
Trinity," "American Pie" and "Party Monster."
Vet spits tobacco
juice in Jane Fonda's face
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (
Reuters)
- A man who said he was a Vietnam veteran spat tobacco juice in Jane Fonda's face at a
Kansas City book signing, calling her a traitor for a trip she made to Hanoi in 1972,
police said on Wednesday.
The man, 54-year-old Michael Smith, waited in line for about 90
minutes before spitting a "large amount" of tobacco juice into Fonda's face,
according to Kansas City police.
Smith was
arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
The 67-year-old
Oscar-winning actress was in town as part of a book-signing tour for her newly released
autobiography titled "My Life So Far."
In the book, she addresses her position as a polarizing figure for
many Vietnam veterans and others outraged by her 1972 trip to Hanoi to oppose the Vietnam
war.
During that trip she was photographed laughing as she sat on a North
Vietnamese anti-aircraft tank.
In an interview with the Kansas City Star, Smith said Fonda was a
"traitor" who had been spitting in the faces of war veterans for years.
"There are a lot of veterans who would love to do what I
did," the Star quoted Smith as saying.
