I am sitting in Mark's basement, typing my paper, watching Trauma: Life in the ER.
There is a teenager on TV who was sick and eventually fainted and starting seizing. When her mom came to the hospital, she informed the doctors that her teenager’s stomach was swollen. Doctor looks at it and the girl is PREGNANT.... 6-7 MONTHS PREGNANT!!!! At which point the mom responds with "I don’t even know how that happened". Yeah, the issues of this whole thing.....
Today Tom and I were doing a mini-tour with a mom and her daughter. The mom mentioned something about putting up extra hooks in the closet. The daughter said "well I can't do that". I asked her why not, and she said she didn't know how. Uh...... get a hammer or screwdriver, and it should be self explanatory after that..... Meanwhile, the top of the girl's underwear was coming out of her jeans. Conveniently, they matched the lace of her skank tank. So I guess that's supposed to make it all better?!!?!?!?! I almost asked her to pull her pants up. People pay money to see that shit.... I don’t want to see it. I always want to tell the high schoolers who are making out in the hallway.... "If you want to make it public, join the porn business. At least then you are making money off the people who are watching you." Ugh, I guess I just don't understand parents of this generation and their kids. Parents just don't seem to get it. They never know what's going on with their kids and never can provide a possible explanation for behavior. They don’t have any solutions and always apologize for the behavior of their kid. I want so badly to give out parenting advice, but have to refrain as that is not my position. Also, a lot of times people look at me like "you don't have kids, so how do you know?" It's very frustrating to think that as a 23 year old with no kids, I have better parenting skills than those who have kids.
Ok, that was a random rant. Eh, I guess it's just b/c it's summer and I keep thinking about my students and what they are doing and how their parents have NO CLUE.
In any event... Keep your fingers crossed for J. He had his MSU interview and he says it went well. We have to wait 2-3 weeks now.
I am taking a masters class on campus and working a couple days at the dorm. Not too shabby since I can make my schedule and get paid decently. The extra money will be nice to pay for tuition and such.
Alright, I suppose I should get back to writing my paper....
