Recent scare (a big one)

This is a posting I made in an online community on January 16. It was just before an exam.

"This morning Katie has a medical test to go through. The results of it will give a pretty good indication of which of two paths the rest of our lives will take. One is not so good.

what a scary experience and what a relief to know that you two don't have to deal with a terrible disease. Love to the both of you.

What a frightening time. Life is fragile, and scares like this reinforce that knowledge. So, not that life altering scare must have a great philosophical epiphany I think you had one and I thank you for sharing. We may all see MS with a different eye now.

Yes, I can see now that having been through this brief episode I gained a deeper gratitude for the truly important things in my life - love and health. And I have a more profound empathy for those who actually do have to live with overwhelming conditions such as this. But I'll also always recall the feeling of abyss and numbness that I was immersed in for those few terrible, precious weeks. It will probably make me live better and not sweat the small stuff as much, though.
